Making a move is a major ordeal in most cases. Moving internationally is an even bigger ordeal.

It can be difficult to figure out how to get all of your things overseas, so be sure to hire the best international mover to do this for you.

There are a few things you must do before choosing your international mover.

Things To Do When Selecting A Mover

When making an international move and choosing a moving company, consider these four tips:

1. Never Choose A Company Simply Based On Price

Unfortunately, there are scammers out there who will give you what seems like a really great price, then end up either not getting your items to their destination or getting them there damaged.

2. Ask For References And Check Them

The place to start is with people you trust. However, if you do not know anyone that has moved internationally, there are other options.

You can find chat support groups in your destination country, call the embassy or consulate in your destination country, or if you are moving for your job, call the HR department- they will be able to put you in touch with others who have been transferred internationally.

3. Get Visual Surveys For Your Moving Estimates & Costs

When you ask a moving company, domestic or international, for a quote, they should send a representative out to see what will be involved in your move.

Never trust a quote that is given over the phone or by email. Movers need to see exactly what will be needed before telling you what they will charge you.

4. Read the international moving quote completely.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when getting quotes is not reading it entirely. Then, when the final bill is much higher than expected, they get upset.

Do not just trust that the quote includes “everything.” Read the fine print. Moving internationally is a major move- one that most people will never do. Make sure to choose a mover that you can trust with your belongings.

Consider these points when looking at international movers and be assured that you will make the right decision.
