What household goods are not allowed on the moving truck?

When packing your belongings for Moving Day, please be aware that some common household goods are not allowed on the moving truck as cited by federal law or van line regulations. The following list of potentially flammable, hazardous and perishable items are restricted for transfer by the moving company:

Examples of Restricted Household Goods

  • Aerosol Cans
  • Ammunition
  • Car / Household batteries
  • Cleaning products
  • Charcoal
  • Corrosives
  • Fertilizer / Lawn chemicals
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Flammables
  • Frozen foods
  • Refrigerated items
  • Gasoline, kerosene, propane, sterno, oil and bottled gas
  • Nail polish / Acetone polish remover
  • Open containers
  • Paints, thinners and varnishes
  • Perishables
  • Plants
  • Pool chemicals
  • Pesticides or Poisons
  • Produce

Important Note: You should keep any items of sentimental and irreplaceable value with you while traveling. These household goods include: cash, checkbooks, travel documents, jewelry, family photo albums, prescription medicine and personal records. If in doubt, whether or not the moving company can transport an item, please contact your Move Consultant to discuss the household goods in question.
